Give your device a performance boost by simply reducing the workload on your CPU and available RAM.
All phones come with a given amount of RAM for all processing units to work with, it could be in Megabytes or Gigabytes. the OS takes a chunk of this RAM to function and we are left with the remaining available RAM for our apps to use.

This is how to do it…
- Goto your “settings”
- Look for “about phone” and click it
- Look for “build number” and tap it 7 times and you will get a message that you are now a developer.
Reduce “background process limit” in the app section of developer options.
Do you know that there are processes that are CONSTANTLY running behind what we see on the screen?
these processes are constantly grabbing available RAM and constantly working up our processors
Open your developer options in your settings and scroll to the app section. you should see “background process limit”
by default it is set to standard limit, standard limit changes depending RAM size of the device. for most 1GB RAM phones, standard limit is 20 running services and 20 cached processes. this setting means that our phones are allowed to constantly handle as much as 20 services in the background and store as much as 20 suspended processes as cache in the RAM.
if your RAM is more than 1GB then your standard limit is above 20
setting the background process limit to 4, 3, 2 or 1 will give you an increase in performance as it reduces the amount of work your CPU does in the background.
it will also increase the amount of available RAM as the phone is now instructed to store a fewer number of processes in the RAM.
setting it to “No background processes” will typically give you a reasonable boost in performance. this is best when we want to do a heavy task or when we want a better gaming experience.
this setting will not permit any cache to be stored in the RAM and it will make your CPU give more attention to the app displaying on the screen.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MIGHT BE SCARED,
THIS HAS NO ADVERSE EFFECT ON YOUR PHONE BECAUSE THIS SETTING AFFECTS ONLY CACHED PROCESSES AND RUNNING SERVICES OF THOSE SYSTEM APPS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CORE FUNCTIONING OF ANDROID ITSELF.
SO YOUR DEVICE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK PROPERLY EVEN WHEN YOU SELECT “NO BACKGROUND PROCESSES”.
SOME SYSTEM APPS LIKE GMAIL MIGHT DISPLAY ERROR MESSAGES SUCH AS…
“gmail has stopped”
This is a normal error message that occurs EVEN when your background process limit is set to standard limit.
this kind of error message appears when android has reached the background process limit and an app starts a service in the background and android force closes it to maintain/uphold the set “standard background process limit”
note** gmail is google software but has nothing to do with the proper working of your OS.
same with calendar services etc
these 2 are examples of system apps that will have their constantly running services/processes stopped.
follow the above two steps to enjoy a better performance from your INFINIX device.
some of us who have RAM management issues have downloaded one click boost apps to help clear background processes, but the truth is, not long after those processes are cleared the respective apps will start the process/service again. that is why we only enjoy the boost for a moment.
follow this guide and set the limit for those processes and enjoy that boost until you revert to default settings.

(1) open developer options
(2) among the first few options you should see “running services”
click on this to see the running services.
as you can see in the screenshot below, my apps have consumed over 600mb of RAM in the background.
you can click on “show cached processes” at top right corner to see cached processes.
remember what i said before, only 3rd party app services and unimportant system services will be stopped. the running services that android requires in order to be functional will not be stopped regardless of your background process limit.
you will notice a considerable increase in performance after doing this.
